Senior Quantity Surveyor

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Groundwork, you will be instrumental in building the 'commercial memory layer' for the construction industry. You will leverage your extensive contractor-side experience to ensure our AI-driven insights are commercially accurate, trustworthy, and actionable. Joining a fast-paced, remote-first team with a flat structure, you will directly influence product development and help contractors across the UK protect their margins through proactive risk mitigation.

• Review and refine complex contract analyses generated by AI systems to ensure 100% commercial and legal accuracy.
• Define and build frameworks for assessing, prioritizing, and communicating contract risks to construction professionals.
• Collaborate closely with the founders, product managers, and engineers to translate commercial expertise into scalable platform features.
• Perform rigorous testing and validation of platform performance across JCT, NEC, SBCC, and bespoke agreements.
• Develop practical, high-impact guidance that commercial teams can use to navigate and mitigate real-world risks effectively.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for UK construction contracts, ensuring the platform stays ahead of industry standards and legislative changes.

• 5+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, or Commercial Director within the UK construction industry.
• Deep expertise in JCT and/or NEC contract suites.
• Proven track record of working on the contractor side, managing high-stakes projects.
• Extensive experience in reviewing, negotiating, and managing construction contracts.
• Exceptional ability to translate dense legal and contractual language into clear, commercial terms for project teams.

• Expertise with NEC3 or NEC4 ECC specific clauses.
• Experience managing highly amended or bespoke client-side contracts.
• Background in adjudication, formal claims, or dispute resolution.
• Experience across diverse sectors such as infrastructure, rail, civil engineering, or residential.
• Strong interest in how technology and AI can solve traditional construction challenges.

• Successful delivery of a commercial risk framework within the platform.
• Achievement of high accuracy benchmarks for AI contract interpretations.
• Seamless integration of commercial logic into the engineering roadmap.
